Dance School Photo Days

Capture the energy, elegance, and personality of your dancers with JRD Dance Media’s End-of-Year Photo Days.

We provide professional, high-quality dance photography at a simple per-student rate, billed directly to the studio. Our sliding scale pricing allows studios of all sizes—from boutique schools to large academies—to offer beautiful, studio-style imagery without the complexity of individual parent sales.

Pricing Structure

Billed directly to the studio (not parents).

Studios may add their own surcharge to cover venue hire, teacher posing time, administration, or to generate profit.

  • 1–30 students – $75 per student

  • 31–60 students – $65 per student

  • 61–90 students – $55 per student

  • 91–120 students – $45 per student

  • 121+ students – $40 per student

What’s Included

  • 2 solo images per costume, per student

  • All group images for each costume (no additional charge)

  • Digital delivery to the studio, allowing easy distribution to families

Example:
A dancer with five costumes receives 10 solo images (2 per costume) plus 5 group images — 15 images total.

Additional solo images per costume can be arranged for an additional fee upon request.

Photo Day Structure & Timing

To ensure consistent quality and an efficient experience for all studios:

  • Photo Days are scheduled for a maximum of 8 hours per day

  • This allows us to maintain image quality, energy, and turnaround standards

If a studio requires multiple days to complete their Photo Day:

  • A standard travel fee will apply for any additional days required

  • Where possible, we recommend organising Photo Days so that all dancers attend on the same day to minimise costs and simplify logistics

Posing & Teacher Involvement

To keep Photo Days running smoothly and to ensure dancers are photographed confidently and efficiently:

  • Dancers who are not confident choosing their own poses will require teacher assistance

  • Studios must have teachers present and ready to pose students as needed

  • Pre-planning poses for younger or less experienced dancers is strongly recommended and helps avoid delays on the day

This approach ensures every dancer is photographed at their best while keeping sessions moving on schedule.

Action Poses & Image Quality

High-energy movements such as jumps, leaps, and action poses are allowed, however they are not recommended.

For the highest image quality:

  • Static poses (where the dancer holds the pose) produce the cleanest, sharpest results

  • Action poses may require cropping or minor adjustments, which can slightly reduce overall image quality

For this reason, we recommend prioritising strong, still poses wherever possible to achieve the best final images.

Optional Image Hosting Service

For studios who prefer a hands-off delivery option, we offer optional secure online hosting where JRD Dance Media sends gallery links for you to directly send to families.

  • $280 per month (up to 6 months)

  • Hosting only — all enquiries, communication, and support remain the responsibility of the studio

How hosting works:

  • Images are uploaded progressively in the order they are photographed

  • A single shared album is provided for viewing and downloading

  • This streamlined approach allows for faster uploads and simpler access for families

Important Notes on Hosting

  • Hosting does not include sorting, renaming, or reorganising images

  • Images are presented as captured on the day

  • If individual folders per dancer or routine are required, hosting is not available and images must be distributed directly by the studio

Backdrop & Space Requirements

All portraits are captured against a 6 × 6 metre professional white backdrop.

If shooting at your premises, please ensure adequate clear space is available to accommodate this setup.

Image Editing & Integrity

All images receive light professional colour grading for consistency, clarity, and accurate skin tones.

We do not provide Photoshop retouching or heavy manipulation as standard. Due to the high volume of images captured during Photo Days, extensive editing is not available unless requested and quoted by the studio in advance.
